Character Returns to Profit Turnover and margins were down but Doctor Who toy licencee The Character Group plc recorded an operating profit of £1.59 million in the six months to August 31st. On Doctor Who toys Chairman Richard King stated, "We are all looking forward to the new series of Doctor Who, an iconic brand in its own right, being aired in April 2010. More Classic Merchandise BBC Worldwide has ensured that loads more classic series merchandise will soon be available by signing up two new licensees. Bravado, a division of London listed Sanctuary Group plc, will release a range of retro T-shirts and hoodies based on 4th and 5th Doctor artwork (the first three shirts will be released in time for Xmas available at HMV, Play and Amazon). For Spring 2010 Half Moon Bay (who make a brilliant range of products & have loads of other top licenses) are set to release a whole range of funky classic retro Doctor Who gift items including mugs, bags, wallets and keychains as well as other proposed ranges of hats, belts and greetings cards.
